What is the HelloVozi level test?

The HelloVozi level test is a public, adaptive Quick Placement Test of grammar and vocabulary (Use of English) that estimates your CEFR English level, from A1 to C1.

It works with progressive difficulty, like scaffolding: answer well and the questions move up a level; miss and they move down, until the test finds your balance point. It has 30 to 40 multiple-choice questions, takes about 15 minutes, requires no sign-up and doesn’t store your answers.

When you finish you see your overall level, your grammar level and your vocabulary level, the questions you missed with an explanation, and the HelloVozi coach that suits you best. It is an indicative reference, not an official certificate.

How the adaptive test works

From the first question to your level. Scroll.

1 of 4

You start calmly.

The first questions are simple so you can settle in. The questions combine grammar and vocabulary, and you answer at your own pace, with no time limit per question.

If you don’t know an answer, press “Skip” instead of guessing.

2 of 4

Progressive difficulty.

Like scaffolding: answer well and the next question moves up a level; miss and it moves down. That way the test adjusts to what you really know.

A question never repeats within the same test.

3 of 4

It finds your balance point.

The test ends when your level settles in grammar and vocabulary. If you’re starting from zero, it ends earlier with “Your starting point: A1.1”.

The test goes up to C1.

4 of 4

Your level, instantly.

You see your overall level and the level of each area, the questions you missed with an explanation, and the HelloVozi coach that suits you best to keep going.

English level test: common questions

How long does the HelloVozi English level test take?

It is a short test: it has 30 to 40 questions and usually takes about 15 minutes. There is no time limit per question: you can answer at your own pace.

Do I need to sign up to see my result?

No. You see your level, the grammar and vocabulary breakdown and a review of your mistakes without creating an account. The account is for finding your exact sublevel, practicing with coaches tuned to your level and saving your progress.

What does this test measure and what doesn't it?

It measures grammar and vocabulary (Use of English). It does not measure speaking, listening, reading or writing. To assess all four skills, you can take the Vozi Exam diagnostic.

How is it different from the Vozi Exam Placement Test?

This quick test measures only grammar and vocabulary, with no account and an instant result. The Vozi Exam Placement Test is inside the app and assesses six sections: grammar, vocabulary, reading, listening, speaking and writing, with your level by section and your learning priority.

Is this result an official CEFR certificate?

No. It is an indicative reference of your level. For an official certificate you need to take an exam from an accredited body, such as those from Cambridge, TOEFL or IELTS.

Does it work for a university English requirement?

It helps you see your level and what to strengthen, but it does not replace the exam or certificate your university asks for. To see what level they require, read the guide to English proficiency requirements at Ecuadorian universities.

How do I know if I'm A2, B1 or B2?

When you finish you see your overall level, and the level of each area separately, with an explanation of what it means. To see what you can do at each level, read the guide to English levels A1–C2.

What happens if I'm starting from zero?

If the first questions show you're just starting out, the test ends earlier with “Your starting point: A1.1”. From there you can practice with very short sentences, audio and no pressure.

Are my answers stored?

They are not sent to any server or saved to your account. While you take the test, your progress is kept only in your browser and in this tab, so you can continue if you reload the page.

Can I take the test again?

Yes, as many times as you like and without signing up. The questions are drawn at random from a larger bank, so they may change from one attempt to the next.
